Christine Hasting
Born in Munich, Christine Hasting is a dancer, choreographer, dance teacher and system therapist SE (system energetics) with her own practice. The Hasting Studio was founded in 1952 by Margarete Hasting, dancer and teaching assistant to Mary Wigman, as a “state-approved private technical school for dance education” and was located for over half a century on the upper floor of the historic building of the University Riding School (first the Garden Hall, from 1959 the former Fencing Hall). Margarete Hasting also directed the ensemble “Neue Tanzbühne München”.
At the age of twenty, Christine Hasting took over the management of the studio after her mother’s death in 1972. Since January 2003 it has been run jointly by Christine Hasting and Rainer Wallbaum, today in the rooms at Ötztalerstrasse 1b. The artistically and pedagogically well-founded lessons aim above all to prepare students for a professional career in dance and/or dance education. The programme includes modern dance, contemporary dance, contemporary jazz dance, hip hop, further training for dance teachers and much more, especially lessons in modern dance for children and young people. The school’s history includes numerous prominent teachers such as Germaine Acogny, Karen Bamonte, Hellmut Gottschild, Leanore Ickstadt and Marco Marcal. In the last decade, special emphasis has been placed on dance for children (from ages two to twelve) as well as on classes and projects for amateur dancers and senior citizens.
